Charles Anthony Swainson was born 1820 elected Fellow on graduation in 1841. Principle of Theological College Chichester 1854-64. Elected Master of Christ's in 1881 in succession to Cartmell. He was a Lady Margaret Professor. He was tactful and amiable as noted in his memorial. He reorganised the College finances.
