Thomas Taylor was born in 1576 in Richmond Yorks; matr. pensioner 1592; BA 1594-5; MA 1598 DD 1628 Fellow 1599. 1601-1604 Wentworth Hebrew Lecturer. In 1608 he attacked Bancroft in a sermon and was silenced by the VC Harsnet, this affected the award of his DD which was eventually awarded by the requirement of the King. He was minister at various churches including St Mary's Aldermanbury. "A man of great ability and character a great giver of alms without a trumpet" [PBR I pp205]
