Archibald Liversidge was born in Chiswick in 1847 and educated at the Royal School of Mines; admitted pensioner 1870. MA 1887, LLD Glasgow; FRS; Hon FRS Edin. studied natural science. University demonstrator 1870. Kept six terms and then appointed Professor of Geology and Mineralogy in the University of Sydney NSW 1872-1909. Dean of the Faculty; Geologist to the colony of New South Wales; President of the Australasian Assoc. for the Advancement of Science 1896. Vice President of the Royal Society of NSW. He retired to Kensington in London and died in 1927. He was unmarried.
