Stourton William Peile Steen was a Lecturer in Mathematics. Author of S. W. P. Steen (1972). Mathematical Logic with Special Reference to the Natural Numbers. Cambridge University Press. He was born 1897 and went to the Perse School Cambridge. Won a scholarship to Christ's in 1914 but was called up to serve in the army during WWI and was shot in the knee during the Somme offensive. He was one of the first Cambridge representatives of the Kitchener Scholars' Association. He matriculated in 1918 and studied mathematics. He was granted a travel sabbatical and studied in Heidelburg and Edinburgh. In 1923 he was appointed to a fellowship of Christ’s by Shipley rising to eventually becoming Vice-Master. He served all his life as a fellow of the College until his death in 1979. He was the author of a book "Mathematical Logic"
