"This is a panel in copper representing in high relief a subject from Comus; Sabrina borne by the river nymphs. It was designed by Horace Montford for the pedestal of his statue of Milton in Cripplegate Churchyard, London and was given to the College by E.A.Shipley in 1910. The authority of Horace Montford's statue of Milton is a bust sculptured by Pierce about the year 1654. The earliest known possessor of this bust is Vertue, the engraver. It was given to the College by Thomas Hollis and is now in the Senior Common Room.
The unveiling of Milton's statue took place on Wednesday 2nd Nov 1904 by the Lady Alice Egerton. The part of the lady in Comus was first played at Ludlow Castle by the Lady Alice Egerton of 1634."
