This head and shoulders of John Milton in white Carrara marble was commissioned by private subscription in the college in 1903. It was exhibited at the Milton tercentenary, 1908. It reproduces the clay model from life by Edward Pierce. It has been enlarged to life size to allow for the shrinkage of the clay model.[ Col Mag. xviii (1903-4),1.]
