Joshua Oldfield D.D. born 1656 thought to have studied at Lincoln, Oxford and Christ's, though not found in their books. He is considered not to have graduated due to a dislike of subscription. He became a Presbyterian Minister in Mansfield, Oxford, Coventry and London (1699) where he started an Academy in Southwark and later Hoxton Square where it had a high repute. He was intimate with Locke. D.D. Edinburgh 1709. Died in London 8th Nov 1729.
