Framed head and shoulders of Edmund Grindall with skull cap. Matriculated at Magdalene and transferred to Christ's with "commons allowed in 1536-7; moved to Pembroke 1537/8; MA 1541. Fellow of Pembroke 1559-63 but never resided". Archbishop of York 1570; Canterbury 1575/6 suspended 1577; restored 1582; died 1583. His portrait is in the oriel window in Hall. The picture is inscribed "Edmundus Grindallus Cantuar. Archieps aetat suae 61 anno 1580. Turris fortissima nomen Dni prov 18."
