John Maul was born in Reading in 1770; admitted pensioner 1789; BA 1793; MA 1797; Fellow 1798; Hebrew lecturer 1801-3; Steward 1808; Senior Dean 1808,1810-15; Senior Greek lecturer 1808-10; Tutor with Brown and Kaye 1808-14. He queried the expenses of the Master, Browne, and headed the revolt against Browne in 1813. Browne was expelled in 1814. During the interregnum he administered the College. Kaye was appointed Master. His Fellowship fell vacant in 1815. He went to Brisley where he added land to the Glebe for which the College allowed him £100; Prebendary of Lincoln (Long Stow) 1828. Died Brisley 1838 aged 67. He had two sons who also came to Christ's.[PBR]
