Black and white photo of the Hay family taken at their home, Greenhill House, which no longer exists at the top of Hill Street, Dingwall. 7 individuals (one partially hidden) outside front of the house. Photograph is glued to a dark brown backing with gold border. The backing has four holes in each corner where it has been pinned to a wall.
This fine house was demolished in 1974 to make way for the new Dingwall ring road. It was built about 1850 for Donald Gordon Ross, Ironmonger, and subsequently acquired by the Hay family, one of whom entered into partnership with Dewar the pharmacist, becoming Dewar & Hay. Another member of the family was a well known dentist in the first half of the 20th Century. The water pump in the kitchen was a feature of Greenhill House.
