Parchment scroll conferring the Freedom of Dingwall on Sir Arthur Bignold, M.P. contained in a silver plated ornate scroll cyllinder.
Part1: Parchment printed in gold ink and signed by the Town Clerk, W. Dewar and embossed stamp of the Burgh of Dingwall with starfish emblem in centre. Presented at Dingwall on the 30th December 1902 by John Macrae (Provost) and members of the Dingwall Town Council in recognition of his service as M.P. and service to the Northern Burghs, including Dingwall. He was created an Honorary Free Burgess and Guild Brother of the Royal Burgh of Dingwall. The parchment is badly wrinkled at the top and edges, and the ribbon for tying the scroll is now mostly missing.
Parts 2 & 3: The Scroll presentation case is a cylindrical, silver plated, purple-lined container (2) and lid (3), heavily decorated with raised, silver plated leaf scrolls. Inscribed "Freedom of the Royal Burgh of Dingwall / conferred upon / Arthur Bignold. M.P. / Laird of Lochrosque. / December 30th 1902."
