Robertson was the grandfather of W. E. Gladstone, four times Liberal Prime Minister of Great Britain during the 19th Century. Gladstone's mother, Anne Robertson, was born in Dingwall.
This painting, which was hung in Dingwall's Council Chambers, was presented by Neville Gladstone of Hawarden Castle.
