Oil painting by an unknown artist. Pictured is Annabella Bayne, wife of Alexander Mackenzie of Tollie and daughter of Sir Donald Bayne of Tulloch. She was killed in the riots in Dingwall [circa 1741].
There are several labels on the reverse of the painting:
1. [old label] 'Wife of Alexander Mackenzie of Tully. Query 1st Annabella dau of Sir Donald Bayne of Tulloch. Killed in Dingwall Riot 1721 [sic] [line descending to] Alexander 1st of Portmore. Or 2nd Katharine dau of [?] Bayne of Delny [line descending to] Anne m Kenneth Mackenzie of Millbank.'
2. [typed label] 'Wife of Alexander Mackenzie of Tollie. Prsented to the Town Council of Dingwall by the Trustees of the late Mr Arthur A. Bethune, London. April 1946.'
3. Part of what appears to be a framers notice and reads;-
Doig Wilson, 90 George Street, Edinbrgh also Greyfriars [ ].
