Handwritten letter dated May 1816, sent from Reverend Stewart of Dingwall to Reverend Dickenson. Within the letter:
- As he ages, Stewart having greater difficulty writing and so reduces his correspondences, leading to abrupt expressions.
- Whole family very low with severe fever 6 or 7 months previously, but all escaped alive.
- Bemoans his own failings and feels that in every way he is marred and stumbling in faith and care. Awareness of his need for the promises he has commended to other while not embracing himself.
- Thanks for all the news from the brethren and asks for their prayers for himself, “a poor, worn out, useless shred of a creature”. He’s feeling very hopeless and asks for forgiveness for his egotism.
- Friends in Glasgow, sister and son, can tell Dickenson of their news.
