Model viking longboat made of pewter mounted on wooden base and presented to Dingwall Museum by Skotlands Brigade Norway during their visit to the Museum in May 1991. The boat has a sail and circular shields along each side. The pennant from the top of the mast has broken off and is within the hull.Part 1: Model Viking longboat made of pewter and brass mounted on wooden base and presented to Dingwall Museum by Skotlands Brigade Norway during their visit to the Museum in May 1991. The boat has a striped sail design with a red and white enamelled badge with gold surround which has "H7" (for King Haakon 7th) in centre and "Skottlandsbrigaden . 1940 - 1945" in gold lettering around white circle. There are 9 circular shields along each side of the boat, with a dragon head on front and geometric designs on rear. The pennant from the top of the mast is now missing.
Part 2: Wooden base designed to support the longboat. Three layers of smooth wood with clear varnish (dark above and below middle, light coloured wood). Small dark plaque fixed with two metal pins and engraved with lettering "Presented To / dingwall Museum / By the / Skotlands Brigade Norway / during their visit May 1991". there are two long slots carved into the top to support the longboat
