Highland Character Doll. One of a series of similar items created by Sheena Macleod DA, this one is of a Fisherman, seated and working at his creel. The model is finely detailed, featuring very realistic clothing and features.
There is a small descriptive label attached, which confirms that the item is hand made in Scotland. In addition, there is also a label noting that this item has been selected for inclusion in the Design Centre London. These were produced in the 1970's.
Sheena Macleod was married to Torquil Macleod, another well-known artist and a native of Dingwall. He was Art Master at Strathallan School from 1965. Although they later divorced, they are both interred in Mitchell Hill cemetery.
