Since graduating from The Central School of Art, London in 1965, Alan Cox has exhibited widely, both in the UK and internationally, including shows at the Barbican Centre, London, and The Glasgow Print Studio, Glasgow. Cox has won several highly recognised prizes for his work including The Royal Academy Summer Exhibition CCA Print Prize in 1992 and The Academy Summer Exhibition Print Prize 2001.
From 1965-66 Cox worked as a part-time lecturer in printmaking at Medway College of Art. He has also taught at Kingston College of Art, 1970-73 and as a visiting tutor at The Royal College of Art in 1984. Alan Cox lives and works in London.
Cox’s focuses on mainly domestic, “everyday mundane” objects, which he often uses as a centrepiece to his work. He states that he wants to “isolate them differently, often heightening their seemingly accepted non importance, or giving a different awareness of the ordinary.”
Alan Cox’s work is held in several collections including Bradford City Art Gallery, Reading Museum, The Fitzwilliam Museum, The Ashmolean Museum and The Museum of Art, Rio de Janerio.
