Print consists of a large white rectangle embossed with a textured pattern, on a sea green background. In an interview at Glasgow Print Studio on 11th May 2011, the artist stated that the image was influenced by white challk cliffs in Sussex. Other prints from the same time depict the distinctive red sandstone cliffs of the north east of Scotland. Here, the shelves of red rock are not present but the whiteness itself is very chalk-like and different shades of white can be seen in the cliffs. The rock layers are neither horizontal nor vertical and are quite dazzlingly white. The plate has been deeply etched in the acid to give the effect of bits and pieces of stone which could fall away. Once deeply etched the plate has been printed without ink. The texture on this print is very different from 'Red Stack', which is horizontal and in layers. The green recalls the sea at the English coast – a warm colour and more placid than Scottish sea.
