Born in Falkirk in 1966, Bain studied at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art from 1985 to 1989. She
Learned printmaking from the fabulous Bob Fraser , who’s mantra was “ In printmaking , when you think you have cleaned up enough , clean up a little bit more.” She has been the woodcut tutor at Glasgow Print Studio since 2012.
'I love animals and in particular foxes. I came across a picture of a black fox and thought well aren’t you beautiful , hence the title “Hey Beautiful’.The world today can be a strange and ugly place, with war and living with a pandemic, you forget to see the beauty around us and this is what inspired this print. I chose to do a screen print as I wanted to show the drawing of the fox and keep it simple.' -Joy Bain
