A cloaked, veiled figure kneels with hands clasped together as in prayer, facing away from the viewer, a faint shadow or reflection of their form in front of them. There are two simple chairs on the left side of the plate, and a vertical stripe texture on the floor, which bends at the wall (possibly a reflection). The whole composition has a strong aquatint speckling and haziness to it. The hands are the one exception to this, etched sharp and highly detailed down to fingernails. A thin, dark, line stretches top to bottom, just right of center plate.
