Beschreibung
Portrait of a female with flowers in the background, printed in yellow, green, black, pink, blue, red and pink inks. In an interview with Glasgow Print Studio on 21st June 2010, the artist explained “This was me trying out a technique which I wasn’t sure worked. But I thought, sometimes silkscreen can be a bit flat and dead; it can be flat and not dead, but I was trying to see a way of drawing that wasn’t like that way. So what I did was, I’d do a drawing in red and put another colour on top of it, another separation on top of it. And so the final separation I could see exactly what all the colours would be like. And I did an oil pastel on the film and then put the different films on to the screens using the colours I had selected and repeated the situation into a silkscreen. And that’s how that worked, a way of the creative process happening at the same time as the process of the silkscreen getting made, not just copying it. I thought, the best way to do it is to do it simply, a boy and a girl, and just see how that works from the original drawing process. And it worked out ok.”
