This is the only screenprint by Philip in the Archive collection, and the only screenprint he has made as a publication with Glasgow Print Studio. Workshop manager Norman Mathieson suggested that Philip might try a screenprint, and then helped with its production. Reeves had been interested in silkscreen before and had done a certain amount, but Norman provided the technical help. In an interview on 11th May 2011, the artist explained that the title refers to music, specifically classical music. The background pattern represents violins etc, while the black represents more powerful, brass instruments and the bright colours are musical accents - the loudest notes and phrases. The key shapes also recall a concertina.
