Tonal red abstract shape, embossed and textured. Scraped texture in central areas to reveal lighter colour of pink.In an interview at Glasgow Print Studio on 11th May 2011, the artist discussed the influence on his work of the landscape of the north east of Scotland, by Wick and the coastal areas at Caithness. Most of the area is red sandstone, the same as you find used in Glasgow for buildings. You can see cliffs and stacks, which used to be part of the cliffs at some point. Vertical structure within the image and horizontal red layers, as layers of stone. Reeves made many sketches and notes while on holidays to work into etchings. He had been told how nice the west of Scotland was but wanted to find out about the North east and stayed in a B&B in Wick. He also visited Orkney, which had a similar structure (the Old Man of Hoy) which was probably joined to Scotland. During the trip he was entranced by the deep reds and shapes of the structures, which are particular to that area.
