Christian Noelle Charles is a visual artist whose work navigates the intersections of identity, self-love, and community within the Black diaspora. Born in Syracuse, New York, 1993, she has built a dynamic career that spans continents, bridging her American upbringing with her experiences as an artist living and working in Glasgow, Scotland.Charles holds a Master of Fine Arts from The Glasgow School of Art and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art.
Her interdisciplinary practice spans screenprinting, video, and performance. Screenprint serves as the foundation of her work, offering a platform for layering and experimentation that mirrors the complexities of identity. From her prints, she develops immersive videos and performances that integrate Afro-diasporic music, dance, and rhythms, creating multi sensory experiences that invite audience participation.
In an era defined by instant communication and digital immediacy, solitude can be both a refuge and a confrontation-a space for profound processing, unraveling, and rebuilding. This exhibition navigates themes of validation, intimacy, and acceptance, documenting the evolving relationship with the self and how solitude facilitates both self-affirmation and self-interrogation
