Illustration of items including a lily, flute and bird cage in yellow orchre, gold, blue-grey, black, red with gold leaf. Etching with soft-ground and spit-bitten aquatint, printed from two steel plates. This print was produced in a large edition of 200 (including 25 artist's proofs), commisioned to mark the bicentenary of Mozart's death in 1791. This print was reproduced in The Sunday Times Magazine on October 28th 1990 with a quote from the artist: 'I didn't want to do anything that was particularly illustrative of a single composition. Instead I looked for one or two things I would connect with Mozart', adding about the lily; 'It is one I had grown and just brought into the house. It seemed perfect to me, just like Mozart's music'. The 'floating' style of the elements in the print reflects Blackadder's passion for Japan, and Japanese objects are often included in her pictures.
