Handwritten letter in pencil on thin, white card. Letter is from John Byrne to Norman Mathieson, the Glasgow Print Studio Workshop Manager at the time. The subject of the letter is Byrne's print 'Newfoundland', which was included in the Space Portfolio, dating the letter to around 2001. This letter appears to have been sent to GPS along with drawings/screenprint separations for the print and includes examples of the colours the artist wishes to have used in the print. Byrne requests pink to be used for the large, circular planet, suggesting that yellow could also be tried on one of the proofs. Yellow was the colour that was used on the final version of the print.
