Tegeltableau van de firma Rozenburg met een voorstelling van de werkzaamheden in de fabriek. Oorspronkelijk afkomstig uit de toonzaal van Rozenburg aan de Parkstraat. Het tableau bestaat uit zes delen en uit 234 tegels.Dit tableau geeft een, ietwat gefantaseerd, kijkje in de plateelfabriek van Rozenburg. Opgericht in 1883 produceerde Rozenburg aardewerk en porselein dat internationaal werd bewonderd. Vooral het flinterdunne ‘eierschaalporselein’ dat in 1899 werd geïntroduceerd, droeg bij aan de faam van de fabriek. Naast serviezen en siervazen vervaardigde Rozenburg ook tegeltableaus. Dit tegeltableau was voor eigen gebruik: het werd gemaakt voor de portiek van de toonzaal van Rozenburg in de Parkstraat.
Volgens een familieoverlevering heeft schilder Daniël Harkink zichzelf en enkele collega’s afgebeeld. De man in de zwarte kiel met schort zou Harkink zelf zijn, de man achter de draaischijf W.P. Hartgring en de staande figuur in schildersjas Sam Schellink.Dit tegeltableau, bestaande uit 234 tegels, geeft een inkijkje in de bekende Haagse plateelfabriek Rozenburg. Verschillende aspecten van het maakproces zijn hierop verbeeld. Rechts in de achtergrond bedienen twee mannen een tegelpers, terwijl de staande figuur in de schildersjas het aardewerk inspecteert. De voorstelling is ietwat gefantaseerd, want in werkelijkheid vonden de weergegeven handelingen in verschillende ruimtes plaats. Opvallend aan het tafereel is wel de aanwezigheid van de kinderen op de voorgrond. Bij Rozenburg waren inderdaad kinderen werkzaam die tussen hun dertiende en vijftiende jaar werden aangenomen als leerling-schilder. Na een dag werken moesten deze jonge leerlingen ’s avonds verplicht tekenles volgen op de academie.
