Description
Bow section of wooden survey launch 'Alert'. Used during the Discovery Investigations for an inshore hydrographic survey in 1928. After completing around 3000 miles of sailing 'Alert' was shipped to Stanley. Was salvaged by Sally Poncet after being found burnt on a beach in the Falkland Islands. Moved to Grytviken in 1995. Moved around and was in several pieces in the central store when it was located in 2008. Restored by Chris Moore during the 2008/9 season.
