These letters are transcriptions of personal letters sent home by John Dye during his journey south to South Georgia in 1963 and during his tenure as Whaling Inspector and biologist in the 1963-1965 seasons. John Dye has noted that the lack of ships meant that most letters were written in a hurry. The transcriptions were written to be shared. John Dye retains the original letters with no intention of publication.
