Painted whale bulla

Painted fin whale ear bone. Painted by Dr Neville V Jones during his time working for the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey (FIDS), 1958-62 at Admiralty Bay and Signy station. FIDS later became the British Antarctic Survey (BAS). Painted to represent a woman. Part of a pair (woman and man) representing Neville and his wife. Painted using pink, black, red and white paint..
