Fur lined leather bomber style jacket. Part of the Sidney Brown Whaling Inspector collection of clothing. Sidney Brown worked for the Discovery Investigations. In 1951, aged 28, he was Whaling Inspector on factory ship 'Balaena'. In 1963 he worked as Whaling Inspector in Leith Harbour overseeing the Japanese whaling operation there. The clothing collection is partly clothes from Sidney Brown's military service in the Royal Army Ordnance Corps, 1942-47. Some items were bought specifially for his work in the Antarctic and Subantarctic.
